Integrative Exam is a mandatory exam for all first-year students. The Exam is aimed at evaluating all the four English-language skills – reading, listening, writing and speaking. All the exam tasks are the same for each educational programme. The exam tasks include non-fiction texts and articles applicable for different educational programmes. This exam is an integral part of each educational programme. The final grade for the Exam is resulting.
If a student receives over 3 (three) points on a 10-point scale on the SoFL Integrative Exam course (Vnutrenniy ekzamen), all of his/her previous unsatisfactory grades for English shall be substituted with the grade that he/she receives for the examination:

Speaking
Argumentative monologue on a given topic organised according to the plan.
A student should speak for 3-5 minutes. Max. 10 points.
Writing
Write an essay on one of the following topics. There are two types of essays:
– Discuss advantages and disadvantages
– Discuss both views and express your opinion
Word count – 250 words.
Max. 10 points.
Reading
Read the text and complete the following tasks.
In tasks 1-5 choose one correct variant True, False, or Not Stated.
In tasks 6-10 fill in the gaps, using NO MORE THAN 4 WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER from the text for each answer.
One point for each correct answer. Max. 10 points.
Word count – 3000-3500 characters.
