Culture + Business = Successes
The workshop focused on the correlation between business, management and the specifics of the culture that companies operate in.
During the meeting, the participants:
- talked about modern Britain and discussed the fact that 85% of British people do not know any foreign languages. Recent research has found that this has a significant influence on the economic development of the country, and Britain intends to change the current situation by increasing the amount of foreign language instruction at school
- spoke about 6 management styles
- discussed the typology of cultural dimensions developed by Geert Hofstede
- spoke about mistakes in communication which are occur because of a lack of knowledge of the culture in other countries: Why doesn’t PUMA work with the UAE? Why did people throw shoes at George Bush? What’s the best way to greet people in different cultures?
- learned a lot about modern Britain and the variety of co-existing cultures in it.
We would like to thank Students International Company for this speaker and we’re looking forward to future meetings.
