Over 40 faculty members and MA students of Department of Foreign Languages got together on the first day of autumn break, October 24th, to take part in the workshop on teaching ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes).
Will Nash, the workshop facilitator, Academic Director at the University of Sheffield, shared his vision of methodological approaches to training ESAP teachers. He presented his experience-generated “Inform, Analyse and Transfer Model” which could be applied in various teaching contexts, but is probably most instrumentally handy for those working at tertiary level.
The presentation struck a chord with the participants of the workshop, among which were Elena Solovova, Elena Velikaya, Irina Yakusheva and other heads and deputy heads of HSE faculties and departments. Everyone felt very positive and enthusiastic about putting to use the model devised by Will Nash, as well as exploring possible areas of collaboration between HSE and the University of Sheffield.
The very much enjoyed workshop was an academically inspirational event setting the right tone for the week often used by HSE faculty to focus on research work.
