On April 16th, as a part of Colloquium+, a seminar on gamification took place.

The conference "The Youth in Science: Challenges and Prospects" held on March 15 brought together HSE students with an interest in a range of modern scientific fields. This year the meeting turned out to be a completely unique one. We  adhered to the already well-established online conference format, making it possible for students from all campuses to participate in the meeting  both as presenters  and listeners. In addition, students of all faculties studying English at Pokrovsky Boulevard building were invited to take part in the conference. Apart from this, we have received invaluable help from our colleagues at the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as from our graduate students. This experience proves that academic traditions can be sustained by  a  high level of motivation and enthusiasm that characterize HSE students and employees.

On April 2, the first meeting of the French clubs of HSE, MSU and MGIMO took place.

Evgeniya Uspenskaya, Candidate of Sciences (PhD) in Pedagogy and Professor at the School of Foreign Languages, told us how students study German at HSE University

On April 29, a seminar “Are you open to opposing viewpoints?” was held as a part of Colloquium Practice. Red Bushetara and Alina Budnikova, tutors at the School of Foreign Languages, shared their unusual experience of integrating conflict management theory and teaching writing skillswhen teaching how to write a “discuss both viewpoints and give your opinion” type of essay.

Before the seminar "Selected African American Poets from Harlem Renaissance to Our Present Time" as part of the project Colloquium+, Professor Alexandra Nagornaya interviewed Professor Yasser K. R. Aman.

Ksenia Chermoshentseva, Student Affairs Manager at the School of Foreign Languages, has extensive experience with intercultural communication going back to her early childhood. This experience helps her in her work—students of the School of Foreign Languages, after all, come from all over the world. Elizaveta Babasyan, a first-year student of the FLaIC programme, interviewed her and asked about the uniqueness of HSE students, as well as about ways of communicating with young people.

Every March and April, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) traditionally holds four student conferences. The conferences have much in common, but each of them still has their own history, traditions, and unique profile. While waiting for the student science marathon, we met with the organizers and asked them about the specific features of each conference and innovations for this year.

In 2021, the HSE French Club celebrates its 15^th anniversary. On February 15,Louis Ernou, a French student currently doing his Master’s in Russian Studies at HSE University, gave a talk about French history for the club members. To learn more about the French Club, we spoke with Louis Ernou, Natalia Zhukova, head of the HSE French Club and tutor at the School of Foreign Languages, and Valeria Vazhenina, student head of the Club and first-year student of Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication.
